Ski Trip 2025
Posted on: 18/02/2025In the February half term, Blenheim High School embarked on an unforgettable ski trip to Kaprun, Austria. Nestled in the heart of the Austrian Alps, Kaprun is renowned for its breathtaking scenery and world-class ski facilities, making it an ideal destination for both beginners and advanced skiers.
The group stayed at Gasth of Sauweiser Haus in Mittersill, a charming, family-run guest house offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The accommodation featured comfortable en-suite rooms, a traditional dining area serving hearty Austrian meals, and communal spaces where students could relax and socialise after a day on the slopes.
Students had the opportunity to ski on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, which reaches an altitude of 3,029 meters, ensuring excellent snow conditions. They also explored the Maiskogeland Zell am See ski areas, providing a diverse range of terrains.
A highlight of the trip was utilising the state-of-the-art 3K K-onnection gondola, which seamlessly connects Kaprun town centre to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier via the Maiskogel, offering panoramic views of the stunning alpine landscape. The beginners built confidence on the nursery slopes, while more experienced skiers tackled steeper runs, all under the guidance of professional instructors. It was great to see so many students develop and further improve their skiing skills.
After full days on the slopes, students took part in a variety of fun après ski activities: Sunday night was the Quiz Night A competitive and entertaining evening run by Miss Josey and Miss Pinchbeck where teams were tested their knowledge of Austria, music, classroom names, teacher interesting facts to name a few of the topics. The teachers beat the bus drivers and the ski rep, and the winning student team were Holly, Issy, Hope, Bella, Layla and Lily – well done girls!
We hosted a games night. A chance for students to unwind and switch off from their mobile phones with a variety of board games, card games, and interactive team challenges. The cup game and bounce off was too competitive at times. An enjoyable evening had by all.
The Alpine Coaster in Kaprun was a thrilling ride down a mountain rollercoaster reaching speeds of43 km per hour whilst offering incredible views and high-speed excitement. Ollie was the most scared from the photo graph taken on the ride, and Miss Dunn requested to go back everyday after.
The 2025 ski trip to Kaprun was an incredible experience, blending adventure, skill development, and unforgettable memories. With fantastic skiing, exciting après activities, and a stunning alpine setting, it was a trip that students will cherish for years to come.
Many thanks to Mrs Acton, Mrs Noronha, Miss Pinchbeck, Miss Josey and Mrs Dunn for giving up their half term break to support the trip.
