Fundraising
Friends of Blenheim and fundraising
We know that as parents or carers of high school age children, you’ve probably baked your fair share of cup-cakes and cookies for primary school events. Donated endless gifts for Christmas fayres, served Pimms and lemonade or grilled burgers in gruelling July temperatures at the annual summer fete. Consequently in graduating to High School you are not only breathing a huge sigh of relief, but many of you will take the opportunity to go back to work or take on extra hours when your children come to Blenheim. The Friends of Blenheim recognise that high school parents and carers are no less keen to help raise funds for their childs’ school but that fundraising needs to offer something a bit different; inventive ways of supporting the school financially that are effective, fun and less onerous on your time.
Please have a look at the list of fundraising suggestions below to see if any suit your current lifestyle. If you run your own business, please consider sponsoring a school event or one of our sports teams. If you are employed, find out if your employer supports match funding or could donate a gift or voucher as a raffle prize. There is something in our fundraising bundle for everyone, from simply signing up for easy fundraising for online shopping, to buying a raffle ticket or joining the 200 club school lottery.
From time to time we do ask for volunteers to help run events and we are always open to new ideas from anyone in our community to assist in raising extra funds for the school. We welcome help and support from parents and carers and you are very welcome to take up an active role in fundraising if you are in a position to do so.
If you are a new parent to Blenheim and have an established group of friends from your previous primary school, why don't you get in touch? We would love to hear from you and would be grateful for any support that you are able to offer.
Money raised by the Friends of Blenheim, is used for a huge range of projects across a number of school departments. Current projects looking for extra funding include;
- Sound proofing in the recording studio
- ELSA support
- Data Logging equipment for Physics department
- Replacement Vacuum Filtration Apparatus Kits for the Chemistry Department.
- Resources for Music department such as replacement strings for instruments
- Additional percussion accessories for the new drum kit
- LRC books for Accelerated reader programme

200 Club
Our 200 Club works in a similar way to the National Lottery. It provides a monetary prize pot every month for 3 lucky winners to share, whilst raising valuable funds for the school.
Each participant purchases a number from 1 - 200 and the winning number is ‘pulled out of the hat’ on the last school day of the month by a chosen student or member of staff. There are 10 opportunities to win during the school year from September through to June. Your number will be allocated randomly; however if you would like a specific number you should email friendsof@blenheim.surrey.sch.uk in the first instance to see if is available.
The following prizes will be offered:-
1st number out of the hat – 25% of the money raised
2nd number out of the hat – 15% of the money raised
3rd number out of the hat – 10% of the money raised
The remaining 50% of the funds raised will go to the Friends of Blenheim school fund. If any numbers remain unsold, the prize value will be the percentage of the total numbers sold.
The cost of each ‘number’ is just £1.00 a month and you can join in at any time. Numbers go on sale in September via Parentpay. The total cost of your number at the start of term will be £10.00. (£1.00 for each of the 10 draws) If you decide to join the 200 Club in November, the cost will be just £9.00, but you will have missed the first draw. New members are welcome at any time and you will see the accurate amount on your Parentmail account. There are no restrictions on the amount of numbers you can buy, so get your friends and family involved too!

Match Funding
Match funding is a straightforward concept that may be utilised if you are employed. The most commonly known type of match funding is 1:1 funding (known as double giving). It simply means that for every £1.00 that is raised for Blenheim High School, your employer gives a further £1.00 to the same cause.
Many companies offer their employees the chance to take part in match funding schemes. Unfortunately, there is no comprehensive list of organisations who match fund but please contact your employer directly to check if they are operating a scheme or ask them to set one up. Some companies will pledge time and resources instead of money, enabling their employees to support Blenheim during their working week. Or a much needed service may be donated, such as the printing of posters, leaflets and newsletters.
Various conditions may apply, but if you think that your employer might be operating a match funding scheme as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme please get in touch with the Friends of Blenheim and we can help make the necessary connections.
Team Sponsorships
Blenheim High School can offer local businesses the opportunity to sponsor one of our school sports kits. Representing the school as part of a sports team is an excellent opportunity for students to work together and develop skills such as communication, leadership, courtesy and respect.
We are proud of all the students who take part in after-school sports at Blenheim, many of whom commit to play for one of our football, rugby, basketball or netball teams. We have a number of sports teams across the upper and lower school playing all year round in district, county and national leagues, as well as friendly matches against other local schools. Over the last four years, our boys’ basketball teams have won both league and district cups and the girls’ football team have won no less than four Surrey cups and two national titles!
Each kit will range from £320 to £360, dependant on size, and will feature your company name and logo in a prominent place. Unlike club sponsorship, our school sports kit is not renewed year on year but lasts for the lifetime of the kit, meaning your company could be supporting a sports team at Blenheim for 4 or 5 years rather than just one season.
In return for your investment, we will promote your kit sponsorship in newsletters as well through our multiple channels on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Whilst we can’t promise you coverage on National TV channels, if any of our teams are as successful as our U15s girls football team in summer 2018 & 2019 (National Schools Champions), our aim would be to provide you with a team photo containing a large number of proud, smiling faces and a hopefully a trophy or two!
The school have already developed partnerships with a number of local businesses to sponsor match kit for both boys’ and girls’ teams. Thank you to the following who have kindly put their name to a kit now proudly worn by our students.
- Green Thumb Lawn Treatment Services www.greenthumb.co.uk,
- Fahim Bros: Cash and Carry of Epsom, Waterloo Rd, Epsom
- Cucina Catering www.impactfood.co.uk
- Spring Electrical Lighting Wholesalers www.springelectrical.com
Event sponsorship and partnerships
At various times throughout the year, the Friends of Blenheim help to fund projects for the school such as author visits, practical workshops, and specialist activity days. Would your company be interested in sponsoring one of these exciting events?
Our Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) club are currently taking part in a unique team challenge to design and build an electric car to race at a National event. This inspirational club is sparking a lifelong enthusiasm for STEM amongst students through the excitement of motorsport.
Our sponsors this season are Haines Minicoaches, www.hainesminicoaches.co.uk, a local family run business that has been operating a number of vital coach services for Blenheim since 2012. The support from Haines Minicoaches has allowed us to purchase the Kit Car and the necessary safety equipment required for the driving team including suits and helmets. We are looking forward to race day in Spring 2021.
We also have many cross-school events throughout the year along with community events. If you would like to raise your company profile, either to a school-based audience or the local community, please get in touch to discuss event sponsorship in more detail.
Corporate donations
Is your company/employer able to provide raffle prizes for our Christmas, Easter or Summer themed fundraising events?
Can you help in any other way, providing refreshments, equipment, materials, printing or other items throughout the year?
We will publish all business sponsorships on our school website, within our newsletters, and social media platforms
