Blenheim students celebrate on GCSE Results Day

Posted on: 22/08/2024

Blenheim High School students have bucked the trend and achieved stronger results than pre-pandemic levels in spite of the warning of a fall in grades nationally. The overall percentage of 9-4, 9-5 and 9-7 grades are higher than in both 2019 and 2023 and the school set a new record for the percentage of students achieving 5 strong passes including Maths and English, with 46% of students achieving this key indicator.

Among the successes are Anya Trowsdale, Charlotte Bennett, Edie Vivian, Maja Hodgson, George Chow, Anisa Abedini, Mashiat Azad, Luke Oliver, Grace Walker, Millie Barnes, Luke Kelly, Ava Lee-Walsh, Olivia Buller, Max Leon and Pearl Clarke-David. Many of them are continuing their studies at the Blenheim Sixth Form and the top 10 performers will automatically receive a £1000 scholarship to assist with their Sixth Form studies.

Mr Bodell, Headteacher at Blenheim High School says “This year’s GCSE results are outstanding and a credit to the students and staff here who have worked tirelessly over many years. This group of students had much disruption to the beginning of their studies, with covid striking whilst they were in year 7. They have shown resilience in overcoming the hurdles they faced and we are delighted that they have achieved these well-deserved results. I’d like to say a huge congratulations to all our students, staff and parents and we look forward to welcoming many students to Sixth Form in September.”
