Blenheim are the NSSSA Basketball Champions!
Posted on: 27/01/2025Congratulations to the Year 10 and 11 Basketball team who went undefeated and have retained their title as NSSSA basketball Champions!
Blenheim 8 v 7 Esher
In this high intensity match Blenheim started strong with an immediate lay up from Eddie. Ellis was solid in defence and used communication to get the team into position but was out number at times meaning Esher soon scored. After a quick team talk, Ellis was supported by team mates getting back to defend and offer options out of the key. Baron showed excellent width of play and a few 3 point attempts which hit the rim. Charlie achieved some rebounding skills and his composure on the ball helped to keep the game to Blenheim's advantage. Jack used his speed and agility to outwit the defenders confidently dribbling up the court to put shots on target. Eddie kept the points flowing for Blenheim for a narrow but important victory.

Blenheim 18 v 8 Cobham Free School
Blenheim had now warmed up and had their heads in the game, working more as a team to create scoring opportunities for Eddie, Ellis and Winston and Ben. Excellent team work and communication throughout. LJ was solid in defence and used excellent reaction time to intercept passes and shot on target followed by extreme composure and foresight to make the right pass leading to Blenheim's successful counter attack. Charlie came on as a sub to strengthen the centre of the court helping to thwart CFS offensive play. Baron kept his discipline and remained wide on the court helping to spread the defenders and creating channels for Blenheim to maintain the attack.

Blenheim 7 v 6 Ashcombe
The closest of the games with both teams edging in front at times. Blenheim's defence was strong which forced their opponents to go the long way round to put a shot up on target. Ellis and Charlie maintained a strong defensive pair and gained control of the rebounds, taking a second for the pressure to reduce before looking up for the perfect pass to a Baron and Jack. Eddiedisplayed superb agility and control on the ball, often taking on 4 opposition players at once and winning with the shot. Eddie kept the pressure on and using the perfect fake to outwit his defender put up a shot from outside the three point line and successfully scoring giving Blenheim the one point lead they needed to secure the win.

Blenheim 8 v 4 Therfield
Blenheim had a convincing start and used the pace and momentum of their previous games. Ben was excellent in defence making the right decisions on the court which showed maturity and confidence. Ben also scored an excellent basket to put points on the score board for a Blenheim.Winston showed strength and extreme bounce-back-ability when defending one on one against opposition twice the size of him. Winston's determination and resilience would come into thei rown when he scored an excellent basket within seconds of being fouled. Jack supported this offensive with speed and coordination to drive past defenders maintaining the pressure until the final whistle.
