Year 7 Football Tournament

Posted on: 25/09/2024

Year 7 Students travelled to Three Rivers Academy this week to participate in their first Football tournament of the academic year.

Blenheim 0 v 2 Three Rivers

Blenheim’s first opponents were our hosts, Three Rivers Academy. After a bright start by Blenheim, Three Rivers kicked on and were able to put a long ball over the top which they scored from. Blenheim continued to probe, however were hit on the break again with Three Rivers securing another goal and taking the win 2-0.

Blenheim 0 v 1 Therfield

After a break in play where Blenheim were not playing, our next fixture was against Therfield School. Blenheim’s performance improved in this game and deserved to get a point out of the game, however with only a minute left, a well-executed finish low into the bottom corner by Therfield resulted in the win for them.

Blenheim 2 v 0 Epsom and Ewell

Blenheim’s penultimate game was against local rivals, Epsom and Ewell. Blenheim’s performance in this game was the best that we had played so far in the Tournament. With a great performance throughout the team a well deserved 2-0 was observed and Blenheim were finally off the mark.

Blenheim 1 v 0 Hinchley Wood

Blenheim’s final game was against Hinchley wood and as with the previous game a better performance was observed. Blenheim probed well and did score to make the score 1-0. Blenheim did live dangerously with Hinchley Wood having some opportunities to score; however, they were unable to score which saw Blenheim finish 1-0 winners.

Blenheim finished the tournament with 2 wins and 2 losses, missing out by 1 point from progressing into the semi-finals. The boys should be proud with how they played and but from a slow start at the beginning of the tournament would have deserved a spot in the semi-finals.
