Epsom’s local award-winning care home, opened its doors to the Drama Department and students at Blenheim High School. Appleby Care-Home is rated outstanding by CQC and provides a service to older people’s care, including dementia care. As a teacher of Drama at Blenheim High School, I am passionate about making community links and setting up projects with Drama at the heart of it. With the aim to promote a shared vision ‘to combat loneliness,’ the Drama Department created a festive Christmas event with Appleby’s Events Manager.

Around 40 students attended the care home on this week and performed a Christmas Pantomime called “I’m Dreaming of a Blenheim Christmas.” The cast ranged from Year 7-13 and included hit musical numbers from the West End!

The festive cheer and ‘panto’ traditions commenced. The staff and residents of Appleby were a fantastic audience, and it was extremely rewarding to see them participating and singing along,as the magic of Christmas came to life on stage! “Oh yes it did!” I would like to thank Ms Makiyi and Ms James for all of their support.
