THREE RIVERS ACADEMY 2 - 3 BLENHEIM HIGH SCHOOL

The Year 7 Football team had their first-round cup match against Three Rivers Academy this week. Blenheim started with a strong attack and Abi scored within the first five minutes of the 20-minute half. Three Rivers tried hard to get out of their own half but Blenheim’s defence and mid-field, managed by Olivia in goal, fought for every ball which meant that Blenheim maintained their lead at the end of the half. Three Rivers changed up their positions after half time and started in a far more attacking formation and as a result, managed to equalise within the first few minutes. Blenheim had also swapped positions around which allowed Olivia to score a beautiful long-range goal to the top corner.

Three Rivers were not to be discouraged and scored another goal quickly to level the game 2-2. Some tactical decisions from Blenheim’s side-line to play four attackers in the last few minutes proved too much for the defence and Olivia was able to score her second goal of the match and secured the win for Blenheim. She was also nominated as player of the match. An excellent result for the team and the team should be very proud of their first success.
