On a sunny day in Essex, Chelsea FC Blenheim opened their National Football Youth League campaign with a well earned three points. Chelsea FC Blenheim wore black armbands as a mark of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
With four debutants in the team it was a tentative start for Chelsea FC Blenheim and 25 minutes into the game the girls found themselves 2-0 down, against the run of play, with it all to do.
In typical Blenheim fashion, the girls dusted themselves off and demonstrated real resilience. They created chance after chance and with some more clinical finishing the girls could have potentially been 4-2 up at half time. However, Chelsea FC Blenheim did manage to pull one goal back with Ilana racing onto an Amelia cross and tucking home.
The second half started in a positive fashion and chances were created on a regular basis.
After good team work involving Leah at the back, Chelsea FC Blenheim drew level with a goal from Amelia. The winner came via a great piece of individual work and a confident finish from Amelia.
A 3-2 win and a great performance from a team that look powerful and committed.
