Another win for CFC!

Blenheim CFC Academy |
4-1 |
Tottenham Hotspur |
Blenheim hosted Tottenham Hotspur in the football academy’s seventh game in the national youth football league this season.
It was Blenheim who started the brightest and created several clear-cut chances, only some wasteful finishing and great goalkeeping kept the score sheet clean. But after a great knock down in midfield from a Tottenham goal kick Gemma rifled a shot goal wards and the ball found the back of the net. Within two minutes Blenheim were two to the good with a great finish form Amie from just outside the box. Against the run of play Tottenham scored the last goal of the first half to make the score 2-1 at the break. The goal was scored from a well worked indirect free kick in the Blenheim area after a mix up at the back.
The second half produced some good football in patches but both teams struggled to impose themselves on the game. It was not until the 70th minute that the third of our 4 goals was scored from Gemma after a great cross from Megan. Megan turned from provider to goal scorer with 5 minutes remaining, finishing well after an excellent pass put her through on goal. The win takes the girls level on points with second placed EDSV academy. Congratulations to Amie who was awarded Player of the Match.
The academy travels to AFC Sudbury next week in the league for our last game of 2020.
