Blenheim High School

v

AFC Sudbury

In the first game of the league season, #teamblenheim’s Chelsea FC Girls’ Football Academy hosted AFC Sudbury on a wet afternoon in Epsom.

#teamblenheim started quickly and imposed their quick technical style on AFC Sudbury. The scoring did not take long to start with Megan B, coming off the back of four last game, scoring in the opening ten minutes with a cool finish past the goalkeeper. #teamblenheim kept the pressure on and four minutes later Kori S added to the score line with a beautifully hit strike into the top corner of the net after some great work down the left hand side. At eighteen minutes, Kori S became provider as she delivered a superb ball from a #teamblenheim corner; Etta S prodding home at the back post. #teamblenheim were in the ascendency for the rest of the half and the fourth goal came just before half time with Caitlin S turning and beating two players in midfield before lifting the ball over the AFC Sudbury keeper, clipping the post on the way in.

#teamblenheim could have been forgiven for sitting back in the second half but that was not the case. As another four goals were secured as Chinwendu O and Caitlin S both added top quality strikes to the score line and Megan B completed her second hat trick in her first two games. Her second goal was a wonderful finish from another Kori S corner and what is now becoming her trademark goal, another coolly taken 1 v 1 finish. AFC Sudbury did have some chances in the second half but with some outstanding defending and two great saves from Lara, #teamblenheim secured a good win and a clean sheet. Congratulations to Hannah P on being awarded Player of the Match.

The girls travel to AFC Bournemouth next week in the league.
