Blenheim Problem Solvers at Work!
Posted on: 03/12/2019On Wednesday 27th November a group of Year 7 and Year 8 students took part in a problem-solving workshop with Explore Learning, Epsom.
Those involved had the opportunity to solve a ‘never before seen’ problem, in which they were ‘hired’ by the Natural History Museum to create the best possible customer experience! This tested their perseverance, reasoning and confidence in tackling new challenges whilst giving them the opportunity to apply knowledge creatively in an unfamiliar context.
Students were also competing to potentially represent Team Blenheim in Explore Learning’s national mathematician competition in January 2020. This competition has been running for 10 years in association with the University of Cambridge and we are very excited to be getting involved this year!
Explore Learning were extremely impressed with the way Blenheim students conducted themselves and commented on how we were the quickest school to find a solution!
Although ten students were put forward to represent the school, only four could make the team! Well done to the following students who have been selected to represent the school in next year’s competition: Finton S (Year 8), Millie B (Year 7), Finley M (Year 7) and Amelie D (Year 7).
