Recognition for Harry
Posted on: 17/05/2019Huge congratulations to Harry Baker, Blenheim’s Assistant Academy Coach, who has achieved an award for his contribution and hard work in the Chelsea Football Club Foundation last year. Harry works with Blenheim’s CFC Foundation students, providing professional football coaching alongside an academic education for female students over the age of sixteen.
This year's Peter Osgood Award was presented to Harry by Osgood's widow Lynn prior to Chelsea’s Premier League match against Watford. Harry has impressed staff and coaches at Blenheim for voluntarily assisting in the delivery of Blenheim’s Foundation programme. Despite not having access to a car, Harry’s commitment to the role means taking multiple trains in order to typically arrive at Blenheim for an 8.00am start.
Mr Millard, Acting Head of PE, describes Harry as an ‘exemplary’ coach, with an ‘outstanding’ attitude. Harry, who was joined at Stamford Bridge by dad, Paul, uncle, Peter and grandad John, said: “For me personally this is a massive achievement. I always try and strive to be the best I can be so to get the recognition is fantastic. I have taken on extra responsibilities this year and believe I’ve done that with maturity. I set myself personal targets and feel like I have met them with thanks to the great support I have from other staff and coaches at the Foundation. It has been a really good year for me and winning the Peter Osgood Award will motivate me to do even more and try even harder. I am a bit young to remember Peter Osgood but my grandad has told me what a great player he was so I thank Lynn for the award in his name.”
The award was created in 2016, on behalf of the Peter Osgood Trust, which closed a year earlier after raising more than £100,000 to support various charities. The remaining funds were donated to the Chelsea Foundation.
