This term, selected Year 8 students were treated to an engaging and memorable science experience through our Wonderdome event, which brought immersive astronomy directly into school. Approximately half of the year group were invited to take part, having been selected by their teachers for this opportunity. Each group participated in a 50-minute show within the Wonderdome, a unique inflatable planetarium that transformed our Drama Studio into an interactive learning environment.

The sessions provided students with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of space science in a way that is not possible in a traditional classroom. The immersive nature of the dome captured students’ imagination, supporting both their curiosity and enthusiasm for science. In addition to our own students, we were delighted to extend this opportunity to our Arete partnership schools. 40 students from the Arête partnership joined us for a dedicated 50-minute Wonderdome show. Following this, they participated in a 50-minute Space Discovery lesson led by Ms Cunningham, allowing them to further explore key scientific concepts and build on what they had experienced in the dome. 

The day was a fantastic example of both enrichment and collaboration, providing high quality experiences for students within our school and across our partnership. We would like to extend our thanks to Ms Alam for her excellent planning and organisation of the day, which ensured that the event ran smoothly and had a strong impact on all students involved.
