Ben is a Junior Olympiad!
Posted on: 01/07/2026The Mathematics Department is delighted to share the wonderful news that Ben, one of our Year 7 students, has achieved a Merit award in the Junior Maths Olympiad, JMO – a significant accomplishment that reflects both exceptional mathematical ability and a commitment to intellectual challenge beyond the classroom. The Junior Maths Olympiad, organised by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT), is an invitation-only competition. Students qualify through outstanding performance in the UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge placing them among the top young mathematicians nationally. The Olympiad itself presents demanding problems that require not only strong numerical skills, but also creativity, logical reasoning and perseverance. Achieving a Merit in this prestigious competition is a testament to Ben’s depth of understanding and ability to tackle unfamiliar and complex problem with confidence. It highlights the importance of resilience, as Olympiad-style questions often require sustained effort and multiple approaches. We are incredibly proud of Ben’s achievement. It serves as an excellent example to the wider school community of how curiosity, hard work and enthusiasm can lead to success at the highest level. Congratulations Ben. We look forward to seeing what your next achievement is.
